Hot Air is reporting the White House as already rejected the Repubs compromise. It isn’t known if they actually had time to read the proposal.
This isn’t surprising in that the administration has already admitted to a willingness to push the U.S. over the cliff.

Ironically, shortly before his death, Lenin enacted the NEP which allowed farmers to operate in a profit oriented way again. Otherwise Russia would have collapsed.

Which does not mean that it wouldn’t have been the sanest option for a Russian farmer at the time to try to leave the USSR for any other place. Lenin was only pragmatic when his iron grip on power was endangered.
