I’m actually a bit disappointed that the focus is suddenly on Ryan. It needs to be on Romney, but I can’t help but point this incredible vapid stretch by HuffPo and idiot writer Jason Cherkis. In fact, after my next beer, I’ll prolly email him to laugh at his absurdity.
Here’s the head line….
Veep Pick Paul Ryan Lobbied On Behalf Of Companies Who Gave Him Campaign Cash
Here’s his lead….
In recent years, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) has increasingly held himself to a higher standard than the rest of Congress when it comes to what he considered wasteful federal spending.
Then it talks about how he just didn’t measure up and it basically insinuates that he’s for hire. The proof?
In 2004, Ryan wrote Norman Mineta, the Secretary of Transportation, on behalf of the chemical company PPG Industries. The company’s PAC has contributed $6,750 to Ryan’s campaign coffers from 1998 through 2012. Ryan began by saying he was “writing to share the concerns” of the company over a proposed rule concerning the transportation of hazardous materials.
Let’s see…… gusintas…. carry the one…. figuring….. calculating…. OMG!!!! Ryan is bought for $482.14 a year!!!!
Now, is Jason that stupid or is he engaged in a political hit job?
But, that’s not all!!!
In 2007 and 2008, Midwest executives gave Ryan $1,450 in campaign contributions, records show.
The article actually describes a representative doing the work of someone representing his district. Worded slightly different, I’d use it as a campaign ad!
Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
Lobbying is a part of being a representative. I do not like some of the lobbyists, but accept that politicians will do it. Given the cost of running for congress, I do not think Ryan was bought by that paltry sum. But it is not the evidence that matters, just the charge. So they will try to play it up – neglecting the millions paid to Obama for his lobbying.
It should also be remembered that lobbying is protected under the First Amendment (the right of the people to petition the governmnent for the redress of grievances) provided the process remains transparent.
Exactly. Paul Ryan was doing his job as a representative of his people. The fact that some people and businesses thought he was doing an adequate job and actually (gasp!) donated some change to his campaign funds is exactly how the system is suppose to work.
Apparently the writers of HuffPo hate a representative government. Oddly, I haven’t hear back from the author. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to be a journalist, or writing an oped, or what? So, I emailed him asking what his specific function was…… no answer, yet!

They’re not evil when they serve a purpose in the campain.
If WSJ pesters you with “subscriber content only”, try to find the article on google news; they get a free pass.
Interesting….. that can’t possibly be true!!
I’ll write about it in a bit. Thanks! Hopefully I’ll have one for you in just a bit which might hold even more interest to you..
