The USDA is actively and literally attacking pride in American individualism and self reliance. They are giving out awards to the local offices who persuade people not to care for and provide for themselves and to accept the federal assistance. Ashe County Department of Social Services (DSS), Jefferson, NC
To increase SNAP participation, Ashe County DSS, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina hired an experienced eligibility worker with knowledge of the county to visit partner agencies in rural areas to pre-screen households and help them complete applications. Hearing from the outreach worker that benefits could be used to purchase seeds and plants for their gardens turned out to be a very important strategy in counteracting what they described as “mountain pride” and appealed to those who wished not to rely on others. Eventually, many accepted assistance from the Low Income Energy Assistance Program, the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program, and others, in some cases doubling a household’s net income. In 1 year, SNAP participation increased over 10 percent. Over 50 percent of the completed applications contained a household member who is elderly. Ashe County DSS officials, recognizing the positive impact and increased effectiveness of having an outreach worker dedicated to rural areas of the county, decided to fund this position and continue the outreach collaboration after the food bank grant funding expires.
I don’t know if we could pass a law against such behavior, but, there should be one. And the punishment should be corporal and severe. These are people who are actively engaged in subversion of the American way of life. They are the agents of our very own government. There can be no worse form of treason. These aren’t crimes against the government, these are crimes against the American populous!
Again, we see more lies coming from this administration. Yes, we can? THEY’RE INTENTIONALLY AND ACTIVELY CONVINCING PEOPLE, NO, THEY CAN’T! What sort of disgusting creatures do this to their own countrymen? Who in the hell thought this idiocy was something to be celebrated? These policies will have devastating affects on our society for decades to come.
By all means, feed the hungry. But, we cannot actively create needs and destroy our ability to provide for ourselves.

I’m surprised at their openness about it. We all know there are enemies of America in these entanglements of bureaucratic morass, but, their brazen actions of actually rewarding people for convincing others that they’re incapable of providing for their own and their open hostility towards self reliance is abhorrent.

It’s probably a poor strategy in this particular location and others. Even if they do convince some of these former individualists of need, the former individualists will recognize this as a decline in the governments ability.
For instance, if I became convinced that I needed assistance, I would accept the assistance, but, it would just be seen by me as further proof of the ineffectual leadership Washington has had for the last several years.
